Veggie Hanger

Today I made a hanger for the chickens with some rubber bands, string and some vegetables.  They really enjoyed it!  I put it above the run before I went to work and by the time I got back they ate it all!  The veggie hanger prevented them from getting bored when they couldn't go out of the coop!  This was also a good way for them to exercise as well!

I Solved It!

I figured out he missing puzzle piece to my egg mystery.  Turns out I was correct!  Shasta was growling at me and I lifted her up and found Pebble's egg!  I am pretty sure Shasta has been sitting there for the whole day because when I collected the egg, it felt like she just laid it.  I am just glad to find an egg.  All you have to do to stop a broody hen you just have to remove her from the nest and collect the egg and she will figure out that; why am I sitting here!  I just hope to find that Shasta lays an egg by tomorrow and doesn't just sit there warming up Pebbles's egg!

The Egg Mystery

Shasta and Pebbles haven't been laying eggs lately.  I think the reason is because Shasta has been sitting in the nest for the past days.  I hope they start laying more eggs by tomorrow.  I am sure hoping to find two eggs in the nest by today!  If there is a double egg which can happen I'll be sure to post it!

My Chicken Family

I have two chickens, one named Shasta a Silkie and a Sussex named Pebbles.  It is so fun to watch them,  they always follow each other around instinctively.  They are so cute!  They lay eggs everyday and they taste much better than those store bought eggs.  They have a big difference in size but it is worth it.  When we compare the two eggs it almost seems like it is a goose egg!   I highly recommend getting chickens.  You don't need to have a big backyard, in fact our backyard is pretty small but our chickens  still enjoy the space!
